God's Judgement in the Flood
Some
Christian leaders have recently been promoting a view of Noah’s Flood that
states that it was a "local flood" in the Mesopotamian region of the middle
east. Science, as always, can be interpreted in different ways but the
Bible is true in all cases. The Scripture itself is clear; Noah’s Flood
was world wide. God’s intention is shown in Genesis 6:7-8 "So the Lord
said, ‘I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth,
both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry
that I have made them.’" The actual results of his judgment is recorded in
Genesis 7:17-23 "Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters
increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The
waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved
about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly
on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered.
The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered.
And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts
and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in
whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that [was] on the
dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face
of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air.
They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him
in the ark remained alive." Note how many times the word "all" is used in
this passage. In addition, there would be no reason to spend the great
effort to build the Ark if Noah could have fled to another region to escape
the flood. The most important reason that the flood must be world wide is
that God’s judgment was declared to be complete and therefore anything less
would be incomplete judgment and would make God a liar. God’s promise to
never judge the world by water again would have been broken many times in
large local floods. The next and final judgment will by fire when God
relaxes with sustaining power in the atoms and all the Universe dissolves
in "fervent heat". Are you ready for that judgment ? If you want to know
